October 09, (THEWILL) –Â Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder weighed in one day before their heavyweight title battle, and both boxers were heavier than they had ever been in their entire careers.
Fury weighed 277 pounds. For the second of their trilogy fight, he weighed 273 pounds and won by TKO in the seventh round last February. Meanwhile, Wilder will be at a huge weight disadvantage once again. He weighed 238 pounds when he checked in.
Unlike the previous fights on the card, neither boxer was allowed to fight. The war of words continued despite the fact that they were not allowed to be near each other.
On stage, both raged at one other, and Wilder finally screamed his trademark “Bomb Squad!” Fury, who was wearing a black helmet in honour of professional wrestler Undertaker, said he was intended for “total obliteration” of his opponent on Saturday night.
The weight disparities between the boxers was significant, but they were also significant the last two times they fought and it will mean that neither fighter’s game plan will change much.
Wilder will enter the ring with the most powerful right hand in the sport. Fury, who moves better than anyone of that size, will try to dodge it and pick him apart from a distance, as he has in the past.
Fury’s bulk, at the very least, should allow him to take that punch and rebound like he did in the first meeting.
