June 01, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Flying Eagles soared to a 2-0 victory in a historic match against hosts Argentina, securing a spot in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U20 World Cup.
The U20 side displayed their prowess with the victory at Estadio San Juan on Wednesday night. Second-half goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Haliru Sarki shattered the hopes of Argentina and delighted Nigerian fans around the world.
In the first half, Argentina, backed by their passionate home support, dominated the game and dictated the tempo, putting pressure on the Flying Eagles. However, Nigeria skillfully frustrated the eager hosts while maintaining their attacking intent. The opening half ended without any goals, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.
