November 05, (THEWILL) — Napoli’s lengthy home scoring streak in the UEFA Champions League came to an end on Tuesday night following a frustrating goalless draw against Eintracht Frankfurt at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The Italian side had found the net in 21 consecutive European home fixtures before this result, with their last blank at the venue coming against Dynamo Kyiv in November 2016.
The hosts controlled proceedings throughout and created numerous opportunities, with Eljif Elmas forcing Michael Zetterer into a diving save after 13 minutes. Scott McTominay spurned two chances, whilst Frank Anguissa struck narrowly over from distance. The midfielder later set up McTominay six yards out in the 83rd minute, only for the chance to be wasted.

Both clubs now sit on four points in the UCL standings, with Napoli occupying 19th position and Frankfurt one place higher courtesy of a superior goal difference. The result extends Napoli’s winless run in the competition and leaves them facing an uphill battle to progress.
