December 02, (THEWILL) – After spending Thanksgiving in Maine with his family, President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White announced that he and his entire family tested positive for COVID-19.
“We just went up to my place in Maine, and for Thanksgiving, it’s tradition we go up there and somebody had it, and we get back and we all tested positive for COVID,” White said on The Jim Rome Podcast. “Literally the whole family and my family up in Maine, too.”
After experiencing modest symptoms, including the brief loss of his sense of taste and smell, White confirmed that he was completely vaccinated and in isolation. The UFC president also stated that he was “doing the protocol” and will be away from people until his test results are negative.
“I hope [I can attend Saturday’s UFC],” he said. “If I test negative then I will absolutely, positively be there. I’m going to do the exact protocol that’s supposed to be done and make sure that I’m clean and can go around and be around people again.”
In the main event of Saturday’s UFC event in Las Vegas, Rob Font (with a 19-4 MMA win-loss ratio and a 9-3 UFC record) will face Jose Aldo (30-7 MMA, 12-6 UFC) in the bantamweight class.
Font is undefeated in four fights at bantamweight, while Aldo is a two-time UFC featherweight champion.
