July 01, (THEWILL) – Manchester United are engaged in ongoing discussions with goalkeeper David De Gea, despite the expiration of his contract with the club on Friday.
De Gea, who has been with United since 2011, holds the record for the longest-serving player in the current squad, having appeared in nearly 550 matches. The club released a statement confirming that negotiations are still in progress with the esteemed goalkeeper.
Last season, De Gea secured his second English Premier League Golden Glove by maintaining 17 clean sheets. However, the 32-year-old has faced criticism in recent years for his occasional shortcomings and errors. While De Gea is considered one of the highest-paid players at United, he has not represented Spain since 2020.
Reports monitored by THEWILL reveal that De Gea’s wedding is scheduled for this weekend, and any potential new agreement is expected to be finalised after he resumes face-to-face discussions with the club.
