Jadon Sancho

October 05, (THEWILL) – Jadon Sancho is keen to cut short his Manchester United nightmare and return to former club, Borussia Dortmund, in the January transfer window, according to reports monitored by THEWILL.

The 23-year-old winger has endured a miserable spell at Old Trafford since his £73m move from Dortmund in 2021, falling out of favour under manager, Erik ten Hag, this season. Sancho was dropped for the 3-1 loss at Arsenal last month, with Ten Hag citing poor training performances, prompting a social media outburst from the player, claiming he was a “scapegoat”.

Sancho remains excluded from first-team training and relations with Ten Hag appear permanently strained. Dortmund are monitoring the situation ahead of a potential loan approach in January. Sancho is said to be open to rejoining his former club, where he spent four successful seasons before joining United.

A permanent transfer is thought to be unlikely in January, given the substantial fee United paid for Sancho. However, a loan with an option or obligation to buy next summer is considered a real possibility if Sancho’s exile continues.

While a change in Ten Hag’s stance could bring Sancho back into the fold, United are firmly supporting the Dutchman’s disciplinary methods despite poor results this season. They sit 10th in the English Premier League after one of their most disappointing starts to an EPL season.
