September 07, (THEWILL) — The United States men’s national team suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to South Korea at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, marking their sixth loss in eight matches against top-25 ranked opponents since the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Manager Mauricio Pochettino’s record now stands at 10 wins and seven defeats across all competitions, with this result raising questions about team selection and tactical approach.
Pochettino made notable lineup decisions that drew attention, particularly selecting Tristan Blackmon ahead of Crystal Palace defender, Chris Richards, in the starting XI. Sergiño Dest returned to the team after missing the Gold Cup due to fitness concerns, whilst Christian Pulisic featured prominently following controversy over his absence from the summer tournament. South Korea capitalised on their opportunities during the first half, with new LAFC forward, Son Heung-min, breaking the deadlock before the interval.
