March 09, (THEWILL) – Tyson Fury has reportedly rejected an offer for a 60-40 split in favour of the winner for his highly anticipated undisputed showdown with Oleksandr Usyk.
According to Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, their initial agreement was for a 50-50 split, but Fury was asking for significantly more money. In response, they offered a 60-40 split in favour of the winner, which Fury turned down.
The fight would crown the heavyweight division’s first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis and was set to take place in April. However, Fury’s co-promoter, Frank Warren, recently revealed that there is still no deal in place, and they are “none the wiser” as to whether the fight will go ahead.
Warren also disclosed that there is a deadline set for the end of the week if they wish to proceed with an April 29 date. Despite the prolonged negotiations and the rejection of the offer, Krassyuk still believes Fury wants the fight. However, he suggested that Fury may not be “ready mentally” for the fight to take place in April.
While Krassyuk remains optimistic that the fight will happen eventually, he acknowledged that if Fury does not want it, they cannot make him want it, even though the fight could still happen someday in the future.
