January 01, (THEWILL) – Manchester United have confirmed that Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek has joined German club Eintracht Frankfurt on loan until the end of the 2023 season. The 26-year-old moved to United from Ajax in 2020 for a reported £35 million but has struggled for game time at Old Trafford.

The Netherlands international has made just six English Premier League starts since his arrival, with his only appearance this campaign coming as an 88th-minute substitute against Crystal Palace in September.

United manager Erik ten Hag recently stated that Van de Beek needed a transfer to resuscitate his career. Frankfurt’s Sports Director, Markus Krosche, said: “Donny fits our game idea perfectly and is an important piece of the puzzle for our team. He brings a wealth of international experience that our young players will benefit from.”

Van de Beek will add a goal threat for Frankfurt and should create promising opportunities for their attackers. In total, he made 62 appearances across all competitions for Manchester United, scoring two goals.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton but was limited to just seven outings for The Toffees due to injury issues. Both player and club will be hoping this latest loan move can help revive his stalled career.
