Pau Victor FC Barcelona defeat Real Madrid 2-1 in El Clasico friendly

August 04, (THEWILL) – Barcelona won 2-1 against Real Madrid in a friendly match played in the United States. The game, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, was interrupted for over an hour due to a heavy storm.

Pau Victor scored twice for Barcelona, once before half-time and again shortly after the break. Robert Lewandowski provided the assist for Victor’s first goal. Real Madrid’s Nico Paz scored a late header, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Real Madrid played without Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, who missed the US tour after participating in the European Championship in Germany. This was Real’s second loss on their US tour, following a 1-0 defeat to AC Milan.

Barcelona’s victory follows their 2-2 draw with Manchester City earlier in the week. Victor has now scored three goals in two games during Barcelona’s US tour. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti stated that the primary purpose of these matches was to give players game time rather than focus on results.

The match marked the first El Clasico of the 2024 season. Real Madrid will face Chelsea on August 6, in North Carolina for their next friendly match.
