August 27, (THEWILL) – Juventus were able to salvage a 1-1 home draw against Bologna on Sunday thanks to a late equalising goal from striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian headed in the ball in the 80th minute to cancel out Bologna’s first half goal. The visitors had taken the lead in the 24th minute through a Lewis Ferguson strike. The Scottish midfielder found space in the Juventus box and slotted home a pass from Joshua Zirkzee. This gave Bologna a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Juventus struggled to create many clear goalscoring opportunities in the first half and were booed off by their own fans when heading into the locker room. The hosts looked lacklustre and unable to break down the Bologna defense.
Vlahovic thought he had equalised earlier in the second half but his 52nd minute goal was ruled out by VAR. However, the Serbian striker was able to finally get his goal in the 80th minute with a powerful header from 12 yards out. The 1-1 draw means Juventus move onto 24 points after 12 matches.
The Old Lady currently sit fifth in the Serie A table behind Inter Milan, Napoli, Hellas Verona and Fiorentina. Next Sunday they face Empoli away from home after Bologna and Cagliari trade tackles on Saturday.
