February 15, (THEWILL) – Randy Waldrum, Coach of the Super Falcons, has revealed new information about their participation in the upcoming Revelation Cup.
The tournament will serve as preparation for the July Women’s World Cup as all four countries participating in the Mexico competition qualified. It will begin on February 15, when Costa Rica takes on Colombia, in the first match. The Super Falcons will face Mexico on the same day. Waldrum previously provided a roster of 23 players for the event, stating that the squad would benefit greatly from the warm-up games.
Waldrum spoke about the importance of the tournament, saying, “I think this tournament is a good one to ship us off ahead of the world.” The coach went on to describe the previous five games played by the team, which were against the US twice, Canada twice, and Japan. He said, “Those are five very, very difficult games. And I think it’s important that our team is winning and being successful in the things we’re trying to do.”
The Super Falcons will play against Australia on July 21, in their first group match, followed by a match against Australia on July 27, and then against the Republic of Ireland, in their final group match.
Waldrum expressed his gratitude to the President of the Federation for allowing the team to participate in the tournament, saying that the matches would allow the team to improve in areas that need improvement.
