Claudio Ranieri

October 04, (THEWILL) – Claudio Ranieri has been named the new Watford manager.

The Italian is taking over from Xisco Nunez, who was sacked after a poor run of results has left them in 15th iposition.

This is Ranieri’s fourth managerial role in English football, following a tumultuous Premier League career. Many believe he laid the foundation for Chelsea to fight for the title, but he will always be remembered as the manager who led Leicester to victory in 2016.
His next job in England was at Fulham, where he won three of his 17 games before being replaced by Scott Parker, who was unable to prevent the team from being relegated.

Ranieri most recently led Sampdoria until his contract expired in the summer. With Liverpool coming to Watford in the first game following the international break, the 69-year-old’s start at the club is a baptism of fire.
