November 03, (THEWILL) – Organisers of this year’s Warri/Effurun Peace Marathon (WEPM), which is scheduled for November 26, have revealed that a corporate relay race is one of the new additions for this year’s event in Warri, Delta State.
The organisations and institutions involved have already expressed interest in taking part in the relay that aims to build positive relationships between the community and the corporate and private organisations that operate in and around the Warri and Effurun area.
Joyce Bozimo, the WEPM Chief organiser, said: “It is a novel idea we are introducing to expand participation in the Warri/Effurun Peace Marathon. It is also in line with our intentions to bring members of the community together to live in peace and harmony.
“We have corporate organisations, institutions, security forces and even churches that have shown interest to participate and it is going to be fun.”
Eddie Ukodie, the relay coordinator, said the straight 10km race, will feature five-member teams, who will each cover 2 km from the starting line to the finish. Leading long-distance runners and athletes from Nigeria are currently signing up for the individual event.
