BEVERLY HILLS, December 16, (THEWILL) – The English Premier League outfit, West Bromwich Albion, have sacked their manager, Slaven Bilic, after just a year-and-a-half in charge of the club. There are indications that ex-England manager, Sam Allardyce, will take over at The Hawthorns for an 18-month contract.
The Croatian manager becomes the first to be asked to leave his job in the 2020/2021 EPL season. He arrived at West Brom to take charge in June 2019 and guided them to the Premiership from the Championship, the second tier of English football, at in his first season.
The 52-year-old managed the team through 65 games and finished with a 40 per cent win percentage.
After a surprisingly strong performance that ended in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Tuesday, Bilic, obvious of the rumours around his stay at the club, told reporters: “I’m doing my job. I’m enjoying it. I’m working hard for myself, for my staff, for the players, for the club, that’s all.
“Everything else is out of my control. I’m not really bothered what’s happened behind the scenes. I don’t care.”
Sixty-six year-old Allardyce is considered the favourite for the job amidst swirling speculations that began on Tuesday night.
