August 03, (THEWILL) – West Ham United have announced the appointment of Vanessa Gold as the new joint-chair following the passing of her father, David Gold, in January.
David Gold, who served as a joint-chairman since 2010, had a strong connection with the club, having played for its boys team and youth side in his younger days. After his demise at the age of 86 due to a brief illness, his daughter has stated her determination to uphold their legacy through her position on the West Ham United Board.
In a statement, Gold conveyed her deep attachment to the club: “West Ham United is a Club that means so much to me and my family… It will be an honour and privilege to continue our family legacy by joining the West Ham United Board.” The Board’s decision to appoint Gold comes at a time when the club achieved notable success, winning the UEFA Europa Conference League and finishing a respectable 14th-place in the English Premier League last season.
Joint-chair David Sullivan was contented with the continuation of David Gold’s legacy, remarking: “It is very reassuring to see David’s legacy continued in his name. West Ham United is a club built on strong family values and principles, and it is important that we continue to cherish that.”
