August 25, (THEWILL) – English Premier League clubs, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest are both interested in signing left-backs Zaidu Sanusi and Marcos Acuna.
Nigerian international Sanusi currently plays for Portuguese champions, FC Porto, while Acuna is with Europa League regulars, Sevilla, in Spain. Both players have attracted attention from the English sides as they look to strengthen their defensive options before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st.
West Ham are willing to let veteran defender, Aaron Cresswell, leave if they can bring in a replacement to compete with Emerson at left-back. Meanwhile, Forest boss, Steve Cooper, wants added depth behind summer signing Super Eagles’ defender Ola Aina.
The Hammers have already completed deals for James Ward-Prowse, Edson Alvarez and Konstantinos Mavropanos, as manager David Moyes builds a squad to juggle EPL and UEFA Europa League duties. They qualified for the latter competition by winning the UEFA Europa Conference League last season.
Promoted Forest have made six signings as they aim to establish themselves as a mid-table EPL team after years of battling relegation in the Championship. World Cup winner Acuna is currently injured but Forest are reportedly preparing a contract offer for the Argentine running until 2025.
