March 04, (THEWILL) – OGC Nice striker, Terem Moffi, will not be featuring in the upcoming match against FC Lorient, his former club.
The reason behind this is a clause in the loan agreement between the two teams that restricts players from playing against their former club to avoid potential conflicts of interest.
THEWILL recalls that Moffi joined Nice in January on a loan deal with an option to buy, which includes a mandatory purchase option of €30 million plus bonuses, along with a contract that runs until 2027. Although he had a few tough matches with Nice, the Nigerian striker delivered a standout performance against Monaco last weekend, scoring twice and assisting another to help his team secure a 3-0 victory.
However, the absence of Moffi in the game against Lorient could prove detrimental to Nice’s chances of winning. The striker has been a crucial player for the team, having scored 14 goals this season, equalling his best tally in the French elite division.
Despite this setback, Nice will have to rely on other players to step up and fill the void left by Moffi’s absence.
