SAN FRANCISCO, October 11, (THEWILL) – The December 28 Local Government election in Yobe State has received the blessing of the coalition of political parties in the state, which has indicated its willingness to participate in the polls.
Expressing their readiness to fully participate in the council polls, a statement issued by the chairman of the coalition, Alhaji Umar Kukuri, said it was in support of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YSIEC) in its determination to conduct a credible election in December.
It therefore called on prospective candidates and their supporters to ensure a hitch free electioneering process.
Kukuri, who appreciated the stakeholders’ forum initiated by the commission, and attended by all political parties, stressed that the release of the election time table is in line with the provisions of the electoral law.
“The coalition also appreciates the stakeholders’ forum initiated by the commission and attended by all the political parties giving us the opportunity to discuss and contribute to the election time table.
“We call on our prospective candidates and their supporters to ensure a hitch free electioneering process in the state,” the statement said.
It also hailed the improved security across the state and commended the efforts of government and security operatives, calling for its sustenance as it pledged its support towards the conduct of a peaceful election.
