BEVERLY HILLS, October 11, (THEWILL) – Inter Milan’s Ashley Young has tested positive for COVID-19. With the announcement by the Serie A club on Sunday, Young becomes the sixth member of their squad to be infected in the last week.
The statement said that the Englishman, who plays as a full back or winger, was quarantined at his Italian home. Young has played a part in all three Italian top-flight games so far for Antonio Conte’s coached team.
THEWILL recalls that Midfielders Roberto Gagliardini and the Belgian Radja Nainggolan also returned positive results from the Appiano Gentile training ground tests conducted this week.
This is in addition to positive tests from defenders Alessandro Bastoni and the Slovak Milan Skriniar while both were on duty with Italy’s under-21 and the Slovakian senior squads, respectively. The other positive test was for Inter’s Romanian goalkeeper Ionut Radu.
Next Saturday, the Nerazzurri are expected to return to action after the international break with a massive game against rivals Milan, who have won all three of their fixtures at the start of the new season. Inter are unbeaten themselves as well, recording wins over Fiorentina and Benevento before an eventful 1-1 draw away at Lazio that saw both sides finish with 10 men.

There is a growing apprehension in Italy that this derby may not be played.
Conte’s men are also scheduled to begin their Champions League campaign against German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Moenchengladbach on Wednesday, October 21.
