June 08, (THEWILL) – Veteran Nigerian actor, Zack Orji, has come under criticism, after he was spotted at the venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in Abuja.
APC on Tuesday, held its special convention at Eagles Square, in the federal capital territory, to elect its flagbearer for the 2023 presidential election.
During the event, Orji was seen alongside other movie stars including Gentle Jack and Benedict Johnson, waving hands at the crowd amid cheers from other party loyalists.
The actor’s attendance at the event has continued to provoke a plethora of negative reactions on Twitter, with several Nigerians calling him out over his seeming support for the ruling party.
The APC has faced criticism on several occasions over its alleged inability to tackle insecurity and other challenges confronting the nation.
Many users, therefore, wondered why the actor would be supporting the party amid renewed calls for good leadership in the country.
Critics also tackled him for not supporting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), who is from the south-east.
Some, however, defended the actor, arguing that people should not be criticised for their political choices.
