February 15, (THEWILL) — Inter Milan moved eight points clear at the top of Serie A after Piotr Zielinski’s 90th-minute strike earned them a dramatic 3-2 victory over 10-man Juventus in Saturday’s Derby d’Italia at San Siro.
Andrea Cambiaso deflected Luis Henrique’s delivery into his own net in the 17th minute before making amends nine minutes later with a composed finish at the back post from Weston McKennie’s cross. Pierre Kalulu’s second yellow card for pulling Alessandro Bastoni left Juventus down to 10 men just before half-time, though Bastoni appeared to exaggerate the contact.
Michele Di Gregorio produced an outstanding save to deny Hakan Calhanoglu, but Juventus could not hold out. Substitute Francesco Pio Esposito headed Federico Dimarco’s cross into the far corner in the 76th minute to restore Inter’s lead.
Manuel Locatelli curled a superb effort into the bottom-left corner with seven minutes remaining to level the contest once more. However, Zielinski’s 20-yard strike deflected through Locatelli’s legs and past Di Gregorio to complete the turnaround in the dying seconds.
The victory strengthens Inter’s grip on the title race, while Juventus face mounting questions after surrendering a point despite Cambiaso’s earlier redemption. Bremer had earlier cleared Zielinski’s effort off the line before the dismissal altered the match’s trajectory.
