January 22, (THEWILL) – Academy Award Winning actress, Regina King is bereaved. The 50 year old is in mourning over the death of her 26-year-old son Ian Alexander Jr. who passed away from an apparent suicide.
Alexander Jr. was Regina King’s only child, and the two shared a close relationship with him, often accompanied her on red carpet events.
The actress confirming the news in a statement said, “Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian,” she said.
“He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”
Ian’s father is Regina King’s ex-husband, Ian Alexander Sr., who is a record producer.
Alexander Jr. followed in his dad’s footsteps by taking on a career as a deejay. Despite his parents being super famous, the 26-year-old quietly battled depression.
