June 8 (THEWILL) — Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has been criticized on social media after leading a pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu rally in Abuja.
The rally took place on Saturday, June 6, and was organized by the Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) movement under the slogan, “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.”
A medical outreach programme was also held, offering free consultations, treatment, and medication to residents.
Orji, who is the group’s Deputy Director-General, was joined by actors Yul Edochie and comedian Seyi Law.
The group praised the government’s work on infrastructure and security and called for an end to kidnappings and other insecurity issues in the country.
Orji also urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reform plans ahead of the 2027 election.
The event sparked reactions online. Some Nigerians questioned why celebrities were supporting the government amid rising costs of living and insecurity.
Others defended the actors, saying they have the right to support any political candidate and should not be attacked for their views.
The incident reflects a divided public opinion on the Tinubu administration. Supporters point to ongoing projects, while critics argue that many Nigerians are still facing economic hardship.
It also shows the growing role of celebrities in Nigerian politics, where their political support often causes public debate.
