July 03, (THEWILL) – In the main event of UFC 276 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, Israel Adesanya successfully defended his UFC Middleweight Championship by defeating Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision.

Adesanya loves to put on a show, and he already got things going before entering the cage. For his entrance into the cage, he channelled the Undertaker. As soon as the opening bell rang, Adesanya got straight to work. He mostly used leg kicks in the first round, but he also included several combinations. Cannonier was cautious to make a big commitment at the same time.

In the second round of the battle, Canonnier had a harder time closing the gap and mounting an attack. Adesanya began dismantling him from a distance with precise punches and leg kicks. Later rounds of the clinch were successful for Cannonier. The fight became unpleasant as a result of his ability to offset the champion’s advantage in the striking game.

In the end, it did not help him raise his chances either. The judges gave Adesanya the victory because of his precise striking as his firm hold on the middleweight title continues. The 32-year-old has now successfully defended the title five times against some of the top competitors in his weight division, including Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, and Robert Whittaker.

He is now looking for “new blood” to take on as he said after winning: “I like having new blood. The last two, the (Marvin) Vettori one, I got bored, the Robert (Whittaker) one, I was waiting a little bit and I didn’t like that from my performance. So I like having new blood and I like having to rise to the occasion.”
