April 03, (THEWILL) – The Asisat Oshoala Academy is set to hold the third edition of its “SHEPLAYS” project in Lagos, Nigeria.
The project, which is aimed at empowering young girls through sports, will take place at the Nathaniel Idowu Football Pitch in Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, on April 6, 2023.
The academy, in partnership with NIKE and Women Win, has been making a difference in the Nigerian football landscape by positively impacting the lives of young girls in the country through sports and education. It is training young girls in the rudiments of football and life skills through its weekly exposure program, but the SHEPLAYS project takes it a step further.
Ajegunle, where the third edition will be held, is a unique community that is a melting pot of all the many ethnic groups in Nigeria. The community has produced notable footballers, entertainers, socialites, and pastors, including former Watford striker, Odion Ighalo and former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West.
The SHEPLAYS project is an all-encompassing initiative designed as a sports, humanitarian, and educational intervention program for targeted communities. The project will mentor over 500 students, engage them in the academy’s life skills education program, and provide training in football and other sports.
