April 03, (THEWILL) – Gift Orban, Nigeria’s scoring sensation at KAA Gent, has been named in the Belgian Pro League team of the week by Dutch news outlet, VoetbalPrimeur.
The recognition comes after Orban’s outstanding performance in Gent’s 5-0 victory over FC Seraing over the weekend. Orban scored two goals and provided an assist during the game, making him a worthy recipient of the weekly honour.
Orban scored his first goal in the 18th minute before adding another six minutes into the second half. He also provided the assist for Gent’s third goal in the 54th minute. The 20-year-old now boasts of 11 goal contributions in the league since his debut for Gent in February.
His nine league goals were scored in four games, with only one of those games seeing him fail to score at least two goals. Orban has only failed to score or assist in two games since joining the club.
Orban’s impressive weekly goalscoring exploits have put him on the radar of several European clubs ahead of the reopening of the transfer window. With his potential, it will not be surprising to see him attract several suitors in the summer transfer market.
