The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has laid the remains of his beloved mother, Eunice Adesina, to rest. Madam Adesina breathed her last in December 2022 at the age of 92. Her funeral service took place at the Cathedral Church of St. Matthew Ojowo, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State last week. The event was supervised by the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Dr Henry Ndukuba.
The economist, who missed his aged mother so much, had to kiss her casket during the burial ceremony as a way of expressing his love for his late mother and bidding her farewell. Madam Adesina’s remains were buried in the church premises after the dust-to-dust rites. The short interment was followed by a reception party attended by politicians, diplomats and president of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo, traditional rulers and business moguls.
Afrojuju maestro, Sir Shina Peters took over the stage during the reception to entertain guests with his old school music. Akinloye Tofowomo’s Shuga Band was also on standby with melodious tunes which kept dignitaries present on their feet for a couple of minutes. Talented humour merchant, Kofi Nuel, who was the master of ceremony ensured guests were all entertained with funny jokes.
