
Last week,the duo of Wole Olanipekun, SAN, and Bisi Onasanya were honored with doctorate degrees at the 7th Convocation of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti in Ekiti State. Ahead of the convocation ceremony, a call was made to the two informing them that they were about to be honored by the institution. Then both men received a letter from the management of the institution. A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Olanipekun bagged a doctorate degree in Constitutional Law for his contribution to the development of the legal profession in Ekiti State, his home-state.
The legal luminary was also appointed as a Visiting Professor of the institution. According to the Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, the legal icon became a visiting professor of the institution because of his wealth of experience. Olanipekun, who was excited by the good news, thanked the institution and promised to be available for the task he has been given. He donated the sum of N10m to the institution, to be used as funding for an award to the 20 best Law graduates of the institution.
Onasanya, a former Managing Director and Chief Executive of First Bank, also bagged a honorary doctorate degree in Finance for his contribution to the Banking and Finance sector. The financial expert, who is now into real estate business, also gave out monetary rewards to students who performed excellently well in the Banking and Finance department.
