February 25, (THEWILL) – United States singer of Senegalese descent, Akon is expected to feature in a Hollywood movie, The American King.
He will be acting in the soon to be released movie with two talented Nollywood actors, Nse Ikpe Etim and Eyinna Nwigwe.
Akon is playing the role of Sebastian, an ex-con dealing with some dangerous and sensitive Russian gangsters, to whom he owes money.
Sebastian later received an unbelievable offer from a mysterious high priestess to overcome his problem and become the king of an ancient African kingdom.
Nse Ikpe Etim shared the flyer in a Twitter post and wrote about her role in the movie.
“When a high priestess arrives to fulfil a prophecy, she chooses an American to become the king of Africa. Nse is the priestess”, she stated.
The movie was written by Ada Obekpa and co-produced by Joan Mc-Carthy.
According to Lisa Romanoff, CEO and managing director of Vision Films, the movie depicts the “divisiveness and double standard of today’s society.”
“The American King is a cross between Coming to America and Black Panther.”
“While the movie is delivered with comedy, it depicts a very powerful commentary about the divisiveness and double standard of today’s society.”
“We know the audience will have a good laugh and enjoy the very taken cast.”
