Jordi Alba

August 01, (THEWILL) – Spanish full-back, Jordi Alba, has expressed his excitement and determination as he joins Inter Miami, reuniting with former Barcelona teammates, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

Alba, a seasoned player with an impressive track record, aims to add more trophies to his collection while contributing to Inter Miami’s ambitious project. Speaking at a press conference after training on Tuesday, Alba said: “I have come here to compete, to win everything. I’ve been fortunate to win everything with Barcelona and almost everything with the national team…it was the right decision to come here to a very exciting project.”

The 34-year-old is set to make his potential debut in the Leagues Cup match against Orlando City after showing good physical condition and receiving a warm welcome from his new teammates. Alba revealed: “They have welcomed me spectacularly. The truth is that I am very happy to be here. And well, physically I feel good, I am sure that with the passing of the weeks, I will feel much better, and the change of climate is important but I feel good and strong. I’ve been here three days and it feels like I’ve been here my entire life.”

Inter Miami head coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, praised Alba’s fitness level but remained cautious about his immediate playing status. Tasked with the challenge of integrating three top talents into a struggling team, Martino highlighted the positive response from players towards Messi, Busquets, and Alba

“What we have seen so far is that they are growing. They are not overshadowed by the greatness of the three players that we are talking about but instead, are focused on being able to learn from everything that they have done in their careers. In that sense, I think we are on the right track,” he said.

With Alba’s addition, Inter Miami aims to rise from their current position at the bottom of the MLS standings and create a cohesive unit that can compete for honours.
