Alexx Ekubo

June 18 (THEWILL) — Late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo was laid to rest on Thursday, June 18, in his hometown of Arochukwu, Abia State.

Ahead of the burial, a funeral service was held at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village, where family members, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects.

Viral videos from the funeral service captured emotional moments as the actor’s casket arrived at the venue, drawing tears from some mourners.

Among those in attendance were IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, AY Makun, Ini Edo, Nancy Isime, Bimbo Ademoye, and businessman Obi Cubana.

Following the service, Ekubo was buried at his family home in Ujari Village, Arochukwu.

The funeral rites began on June 10 with a service of songs in Lagos, where colleagues and loved ones paid tribute to the late actor.

A wake-keep was later held at his family’s residence on June 17 ahead of the burial.

Ekubo died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40. His family said he died from complications related to metastatic kidney cancer.

Known for his roles in several Nollywood films and television productions, Ekubo remained one of the industry’s most recognizable faces.

Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, friends, and fans celebrating his life and legacy.
