March 19, (THEWILL) — American actor and producer, Kevin Spacey, has reached an out-of-court settlement with three men who accused him of sexual assault.
The civil cases were due to go to trial at the High Court later this year, but proceedings have now been halted following the agreement. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.
The men alleged that Spacey assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. He has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
Two of the accusers were also involved in Spacey’s 2023 criminal trial, where he was cleared of nine sexual offence charges.
One claimant, identified as LNP, alleged he was assaulted multiple times between 2000 and 2005. Another, referred to as GHI, said he met Spacey through a workshop at London’s Old Vic Theatre and claimed he suffered psychological and financial harm after an alleged assault in 2008.
The third claimant, actor Ruari Cannon, waived his anonymity. He alleged that Spacey groped him at a party in 2013 following a press night at the theatre.
Spacey, who served as artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2013, has previously described the allegations as untrue.
He is known for roles in films such as “The Usual Suspects” (1995), “Se7en” (1995), “L.A. Confidential” (1997), “American Beauty” (1999), and “Baby Driver” (2017).
The case marks a significant legal development for Spacey, whose career has faced major setbacks since allegations against him first emerged in 2017. He was removed from the Netflix series “House of Cards, where his character, Frank Underwood, was written out of the final season.
No further details about the settlement have been made public.
