January 16, (THEWILL) — American actress, Zoe Saldaña, has officially become the highest-grossing actor of all time, according to The Numbers.
She surpassed her longtime Marvel co-star, Scarlett Johansson.
The milestone was achieved following the strong box office performance of her latest film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which has grossed more than $1.23 billion worldwide since its release in December 2025.
With this success, films featuring Saldaña have now earned an estimated $15.47 billion globally.
This places her at the top of the all-time box office rankings. She previously ranked behind Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, but the continued success of the Avatar franchise pushed her to the No. 1 spot.
Saldaña also holds several industry records. She is the first and only actor to appear in four films that have each crossed the $2 billion mark worldwide: Avatar (2009), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
Notably, she starred in three of the highest-grossing films of all time. Avatar holds the top spot, Avengers: Endgame ranks second, and Avatar: The Way of Water sits third.
Beyond Avatar, Saldaña is widely known for her role as Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
She appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy as well as multiple Avengers films. She also portrayed Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek reboot trilogy, which grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
While Avatar: Fire and Ash has earned less than its predecessors, it has continued to dominate the domestic box office since its release.
The film’s performance highlights the strength of the franchise and cements Saldaña’s place in cinema history.
