February 11, (THEWILL) — American pop star, Britney Spears, has sold the rights to her entire music catalogue to independent music company, Primary Wave.
The deal was reportedly finalised on December 30, and is estimated to be worth about $200 million, although the exact amount has not been confirmed.
The agreement includes some of Spears’ biggest hits, such as “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “Toxic,” and “Gimme More.”
Primary Wave is known for managing and acquiring music catalogues from major artists, including Prince, Bob Marley, Stevie Nicks, Whitney Houston, and The Notorious B.I.G.
Spears, 44, is one of the best-selling female artists of all time. She has sold more than 150 million records worldwide and released nine studio albums since her debut in 1999.
The deal follows the end of her conservatorship in 2021, a period during which her personal and professional decisions were tightly controlled.
Spears has not released a full studio album since 2016’s Glory.
In 2024, she said she does not plan to return to the music industry in the United States, although she has hinted at the possibility of performing abroad.
