October 31, (THEWILL) — American singer and Grammy Award winner, Ciara, has praised the remarkable transformation of Lagos, describing the city’s progress as impressive compared to her previous visits.
The R&B star, who arrived in Nigeria to participate in the 15th edition of Lagos Fashion Week, said she was delighted to witness the visible improvements in the city’s landscape and infrastructure.
“I’m so happy to be here. No, this is not my first time — I know about Lagos. When I used to land, I used to see dirty roads, but now it’s all clean and it has changed,” Ciara said.
Ciara was officially received by the Lagos State Government, represented by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka.
During her stay, she is expected to explore some of Lagos’ cultural landmarks, meet local designers and creatives, and attend several Lagos Fashion Week events.
The singer’s comments about the city’s transformation have drawn warm reactions from residents and fans, who see them as validation of Lagos’ ongoing development and urban renewal efforts.
This marks Ciara’s return to Lagos after her performance at the “Love Like A Movie 3” concert held at the Eko Convention Centre in February 2016.
As Lagos continues to cement its status as Africa’s creative and entertainment capital, Ciara’s visit further highlights the city’s growing global influence in fashion and culture.
