February 10, (THEWILL) – Carlo Ancelotti believes that winning the Club World Cup this weekend could be the spark that Real Madrid needs to turn their season around.
Despite a difficult season thus far, Ancelotti remains confident that the Madrid squad has what it takes to win the tournament and believes that a victory could boost the team’s morale heading into their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool.
Karim Benzema and Eder Militao have both travelled to Morocco, hoping to play a role in the final against Al Hilal, despite recent minor injuries. Ancelotti spoke highly of Benzema’s impact on the team, dismissing rumors that the club may look to sign another striker in the near future. He noted: “It is a subject that must be discussed calmly.
“Karim’s age and Karim’s performance must be taken into account. Benzema is our number nine. After the World Cup he is doing very well and I think next season, too, he will do very well.” He remarked that he will decide on Benzema and Militao’s participation based on their performance in training leading up to the match.
