Anu’s Mother Speaks Out Against Davido’s Father’s Paternity Statement

January 22, (THEWILL) — Ayo Labinjoh, the mother of 12-year-old Anu Adeleke, has spoken out following a video released by Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido, in which he denied that his son is Anu’s biological father.

Dr. Adeleke made the statement during a press conference held on Wednesday, insisting that DNA test results had already confirmed that Anu is not related to Davido.

In response, Labinjoh took to Anu’s Instagram page, accusing the Adeleke family of intimidation, manipulation, and abuse of power, while rejecting claims that further DNA tests were conducted in 2020.

She also alleged that her elder sister, Titilayo Labinjoh, had been in communication with Dr Deji Adeleke since the COVID-19 pandemic, a revelation she described as shocking to the entire family.

Labinjoh added that Titilayo had recently contacted their mother from Abuja, complaining about renewed media attention and pressure from colleagues at work, but was advised by their mother to ignore the situation.

According to Labinjoh, allegations that her sister may have collected money from the Adeleke family left her deeply distressed, describing the matter as a serious betrayal within her own household.

She further denied claims that she worked with controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo to promote the paternity narrative or that Olunloyo currently controls Anu’s Instagram account.

Labinjoh explained that Olunloyo created the page in 2018 before handing it over to her in 2019.

Clarifying their relationship, she said:

“Dr Kemi opened this page and took photos online; some she took with Anu and some I posted myself. She handed the page to us in 2019. I’m not a social media user and didn’t post for four years.”

Labinjoh added that she returned to posting in 2023 during Anu’s 10th birthday photoshoot, clarified that she no longer lives in Ibadan, and stated that she earns a living as a trader who buys goods from border countries.

Speaking directly to Dr Adeleke, she said:

“Sir, as the patriarch of the family, you should not be talking on David’s behalf. I’m not Sophia negotiating child support. Let David address me.”

She went on to accuse the Adeleke family of misusing their influence and financial power, alleging that a family member was assigned to monitor them.

She said,

“Your power and money are being abused here. David is obviously a boy and not a man. If anything happens to me, my daughter, or my mum, the police should hold you responsible.”

Labinjoh also rejected suggestions linking Anu to Davido’s cousin, B-Red.

She added,

“I have not seen B-Red since February 2013 when they dined at my place of work, GQ Club in Ibadan. Anu has never met B-Red.”

She concluded by disputing Dr Adeleke’s claim that additional DNA tests were conducted years after the original test and challenged him to publicly release the results already obtained.
