The striker had earlier hit the woodwork himself, while John McGinn spurned another clear opportunity for the visitors.
The Gunners will enter 2026 with a comfortable cushion at the summit, though Manchester City could reduce the deficit to two points when they travel to Sunderland on New Year’s Day.
