April 21, (THEWILL) – Mikel Arteta has said that Arsenal are determined to move on from recent setbacks and focus on their English Premier League title race against Manchester City.
The Gunners’ lead has shrunk to four points after recent draws with Liverpool and West Ham, but they can extend their lead to seven points if they beat Southampton on Friday night.
According to Arteta, the recent results at Anfield and London Stadium have fuelled a desire for “revenge” in his squad ahead of an important run of matches. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Arteta said: “I see a sense of revenge and determination to get it even better and that it’s not enough and you have to tweak it and demand more and more of each other.”
Despite being rooted to the bottom of the EPL table, Southampton will pose a challenge for Arsenal in their upcoming match. The Gunners will still be without William Saliba in defense, with Rob Holding to continue deputising. Arsenal’s crucial clash with Manchester City, who face Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend, is scheduled for next Wednesday.
