March 12, (THEWILL) – Arsenal put in a commanding performance against Fulham on Sunday, winning 3-0 and securing all three goals in the first half of the match while playing some of their finest football this season.
Although the visitors took early control of the ball, they failed to pose any major threat to the Fulham backline in the initial stages of the game. However, things changed at the 15-minute mark when Gabriel Martinelli had a goal disallowed for being offside.
The decision did not deter the Gunners, as defender Gabriel went on to score a header from a corner just five minutes later, before Martinelli extended the lead with a second goal. Martin Odegaard then added the third in the dying moments of the first half, as the hosts struggled to keep pace with Arsenal’s impressive display.
Despite a stronger showing from Fulham in the second half, neither side managed to score, leaving the final result at 3-0 for Arsenal. In a remarkable feat, Arsenal have become the first team in English Football League history to win five away London derbies consecutively without conceding a single goal. Leandro Trossard also made EPL history as the first player to achieve a hat-trick of assists in the first half of an away game.
Arsenal’s next match is against Sporting in the UEFA Europa League competition on Thursday, while Fulham will play Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford in the FA Cup.
