March 23, (THEWILL) – Two Arsenal players, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard, have been named among the shortlist of nominees for the English Premier League Player of the Month award for March.

The duo are vying to follow in the footsteps of club captain Martin Odegaard. The versatile Norwegian emerged victorious in the same category for the November/December award, with the Gunners continuing to impress this season.

Saka began the month with an impressive performance, contributing a goal and an assist in Arsenal’s 4-0 victory over Everton. He went on that trajectory and ended the month with three goal involvements, scoring twice in the team’s win over Crystal Palace. Saka has become the first player this season to achieve double digits for goals and assists in the EPL.

Meanwhile, his teammate and January signing at the Emirates, Trossard, recorded five assists in March, including three in the first half of Brighton’s game against Fulham, which is an EPL record, the first hattrick of assists in the first half of an away game.

The other four nominees for the award include Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, who scored three goals during the month, and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who also scored three goals. Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings are also in the running for the prize.
