SAN FRANCISCO, August 29, (THEWILL) – The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has shunned a meeting it was scheduled to hold with the Federal Government on Tuesday to address contentious issues in an earlier agreement for which ASUU has been on strike.
Speaking with Channels Television, ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi disclosed that the union had submitted a proposal to the federal government and is yet to receive a reply from the government.
He maintained that ASUU would only attend any subsequent meeting after it has received a reply from the federal government.
Ogunyemi further stated that the body of university lecturers had met and discussed the new offer from the Federal Government, after which it submitted a proposal, but was yet to receive any response from the government.
