SAN FRANCISCO, August 29, (THEWILL) – A three-story building along Ilufe road, Alaba International Market, Ojo Lagos collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday, but no life was lost from the incident.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu, confirmed to newsmen that investigation shows that the building caved in after been distressed for too long.
He explained that residents of the three-storey had evacuated the building since yesterday evening when it started giving signs of imminent collapse.
The LASEMA boss said the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LABCA, has sealed the building, adding that “operations are ongoing for retrieval of personal properties of the saved occupants”.
Meanwhile, recovery operation as at press time is ongoing by LASEMA, LABCA and other stakeholders to prevent any secondary incident of full or total collapse that may lead to loss of lives
