April 14, (THEWILL) — Ruby Rose has accused pop singer Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her at a nightclub in Melbourne about 20 years ago.
Rose made the allegation on the social media platform Threads while responding to a post about Perry’s appearance at the Coachella festival.
“Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s**t what she thinks,” Rose wrote.
She said the alleged incident took place when she was in her early 20s and added that she had spoken about it before in a different way because she did not know how to deal with it at the time.
Rose later said she had kept the incident private for years, explaining that she changed how she described it publicly because she “didn’t know how else to handle it.”
A representative for Perry strongly denied the allegation on Monday.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false; they are dangerous, reckless lies,” the rep said.
The statement also said Rose has a history of making public allegations that have been denied by those involved.
Rose later said she reported the matter to the police. She confirmed she had completed her report and said she would not comment further at the request of authorities.
