November 13, (THEWILL) – Barcelona and Dani Alves have agreed in principle for the player to join the first squad for the rest of the season. According to Barcelona, the Brazilian will start training next week, but will not be able to play until January.

At his formal presentation as a new FC Barcelona player, the club will provide all of the specifics of the deal that brought one of the most successful defenders the club ever had back into the fold.

Alves initially joined Barça in the summer of 2008 following five successful seasons with Sevilla. Over the course of eight seasons in the Catalan city, he established himself as the right wingback, appearing in 391 games and scoring 23 goals.

Although his primary duty has always been defence, in classic Brazilian wing-back fashion, Alves also enjoyed joining the attack, where he has a fine outside-the-area shot that has earned him a reputation as one of the best players in the position’s history.

Under Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Tata Martino, and Luis Enrique, he was an easy pick, and the supporters adored his determination and outgoing personality. He joined Juventus in the summer of 2016, and has since played for Paris Saint-Germain and, most recently, Sao Paulo in his native Brazil.

At FC Barcelona, Alves won six La Liga titles, four Copas del Rey, three Champions Leagues trophies, three Club World Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, and four European Super Cups.

Before returning to Catalonia, he won titles with Juventus on two occasions, six at Paris Saint-Germain, and one in Sao Paulo.
