UEFA regulations prohibiting stadium changes during the Champions League’s initial phase, combined with logistical complexities and additional operational expenses, have influenced the club’s decision to extend their temporary relocation.

Barcelona management initially targeted a return to their home ground by the end of 2024, with an initial capacity of 62,000 spectators.
The comprehensive renovation, known as “Espai Barca”, is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2026, when the stadium will ultimately accommodate 105,000 fans and feature a new roof installation.
Construction work commenced in June 2023 but experienced delays due to permit complications and workforce concerns.
