November 20, (THEWILL) – UEFA has awarded Romania a 3-0 victory over Kosovo in the Nations League after the match was abandoned during stoppage time on Friday.
The Group C2 encounter in Bucharest was halted when Kosovo players unexpectedly left the field with the score at 0-0, citing concerns over pro-Serbia chanting from home fans.
Following a comprehensive investigation, UEFA concluded that Kosovo was responsible for the match not being completed and subsequently ruled that the team should forfeit the game.
The decision significantly impacted the group standings, with Romania ultimately topping the group with 15 points and Kosovo finishing second with 12 points.
The Romanian Football Federation also faced disciplinary consequences, receiving a substantial fine of €128,000 for multiple charges, including discriminatory behaviour and improper conduct.
Additionally, the Federation was ordered to close its stadium for the next home match due to xenophobic anti-Hungarian chants that were reported during the fixture.
The Football Federation of Kosovo was also asked to pay €6,000 fine for the improper conduct of its team.
