Nike-Barcelona

November 09, (THEWILL) – Barcelona Football Club has extended its long-standing partnership with Nike in a substantial agreement reportedly valued at €1.7 billion, extending through 2038. The partnership, which commenced in 1998, reinforces the enduring relationship between the Spanish football institution and the American sportswear manufacturer.

The Catalan club officially announced the arrangement on Saturday: “Barcelona and Nike, two leading brands in the sports industry, are pleased to announce a multi-year partnership agreement, effective from this season.” While the club refrained from disclosing specific financial details, Spanish media sources have reported the significant monetary value of the deal.

The agreement follows recent legal complications between the two parties. Earlier this year, Barcelona attempted to terminate their existing contract with Nike, which was scheduled to conclude in 2028. However, a Spanish commercial court ruling in July prevented the termination, maintaining the partnership’s continuity.

This development arrives during a period of financial restructuring for Barcelona. The club’s monetary challenges led to significant measures in 2022, including the sale of 25 percent of their television rights to American private equity firm Sixth Street, spanning a 25-year duration.

The extended partnership represents a substantial financial commitment from Nike, potentially providing Barcelona with improved financial stability while maintaining their established relationship with one of the world’s predominant sportswear manufacturers.
