August 02, (THEWILL) – Robert Lewandowski’s claims that lies were told, as regards his desire to quit the German team for Barcelona, have been disputed by Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski called the assertions that Bayern’s pursuit of Erling Haaland was the reason for his departure “bulls**t” and said the Bundesliga champions looked for any justification to offload him this summer.

With the two clubs trading sides over Barcelona’s ability to spend this summer, things have gotten a little ugly. Now, Lewandowski’s comments have prompted an irate response from Bayern Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic.

“I don’t understand it at all,” Salihamidzic said. “My father always taught me that when you leave, never close the door with your behind. Robert is headed in the direction of doing exactly that. It’s something Bayern does not accept.”

When asked about the recent praise of Lewandowski by Barca president Joan Laporta for forcing his way out of Bayern, Salihamidzic refrained from responding. Lewandowski left with an incredible record of 344 goals and 72 assists in just 375 games for Bayern and this altercation brings a sad end to a brilliant eight years in Munich.
